August 14th 2008 Scanner-Rhodes Productions Signs Dan Schaffer's "Stingers" We are please to announce that we have just signed the option to produce Dan Schaffer's Stingers. Dean Fisher of Scanner-Rhodes states "Dan is one of the brightest new talents the UK has to offer". "We are delighted that Dan has chosen us to produce his very special screenplay". "Stingers left a mark on everyone who read it and we are looking forward to presenting the script to the industry" adds Dean. Dan Schaffer made his mark as a Comic book story writer. Dan's first feature film 'Doghouse' stirred a bidding war on the UK distribution rights, with Sony taking the prize. 'Doghouse' will be released nationwide in May 2009 on over 220 screens. The frenetic and twisted comedy-noir set in the British countryside for anyone who loved Reservoir Dogs, Fargo, Kill Bill, Blood Simple and No Country for Old Men. In 2000, he brought his offbeat writing style and twisted artistic vision to the world of comics with the critically acclaimed cult comic series DOGWITCH. Known for the diversity of his work, Dan frequently defies traditional comic book formulas and expectations, preferring to bend genres and explore challenging and uncompromising themes. His body of work to date includes DOGWITCH (collected in three graphic novel volumes), psychological sci-fi thriller THE SCRIBBLER, experimental arthouse graphic novel INDIGO VERTIGO, and the music crossover short LESIONS IN THE BRAIN - the last two produced with frequent collaborator Katiejane Garside. Dan also works extensively in film and has a number of screenplays in development. His comedy/horror film, DOGHOUSE, was picked up for distribution by SONY in 2007 and is due for release in 2009. It is currently in production with Carnaby International, starring Danny Dyer and Stephen Graham, directed by Jake West.
