Shooting begins on dark urban thriller Scanner-Rhodes Productions and Urban Way Productions reveal The Man Inside
Newcastle, 11th July 2011: Scanner-Rhodes and Urban Way Productions began principal photography today on crime thriller THE MAN INSIDE. Shot entirely on location in and around Newcastle, the film is produced by Dean Fisher (Night Junkies, City Rats, Stormhouse) and Exec-produced by Ray Panthaki (Kidulthood), in association with Kaleidoscope Film Distribution and Northern Film and Media/North Star. THE MAN INSIDE is an original screenplay from writer/director Dan Turner (Experiment, Stormhouse) and is a biographical account based on the turbulent life of his best friend. Turner’s first feature was the critically acclaimed Experiment and he plans to bring his stylistic and edgy approach to this dramatic tale of a man forced to confront his demons. The production has assembled an exceptional British cast with hot urban musician Ashley ‘Bashy’ Thomas (4.3.2.1., The Veteran) in the lead role of Clayton Murdoch. Joining him in the film are Michelle Ryan (4.3.2.1., Doctor Who), BAFTA nominated actor Peter Mullan (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Parts 1 & 2, The Fixer), Jason Maza (The Rise of the Footsoldier, Shifty) and Ray Panthaki (28 Days Later, It’s a Wonderful Afterlife). Clayton Murdoch (Ashley Thomas) is still haunted by the legacy of his brutal gangster father and bears the scars of his violent upbringing. Determined to live a simple, quiet life, Clayton channels his aggression and anger into boxing with the support of trainer Gordon Sinclair (Peter Mullan) who acts like a surrogate father to him. A stabbing casts the shadow of violence once more on Clayton’s family and his new relationship with the damaged Alexia Sinclair (Michelle Ryan) makes him emotionally vulnerable. The death of his brother finally unleashes the demon in Clayton and his quest for revenge leads him back to the terrifying realisation that possibly the monster in his father also resides in him. Clayton has to face the man inside to discover whether he can control his own destiny. THE MAN INSIDE will be released theatrically in the UK by Kaleidoscope Entertainment, with international sales being handled by Kaleidoscope Film Distribution. THE MAN INSIDE is the fourth feature from the creative and resourceful Scanner-Rhodes Productions and maintains their reputation in bringing groundbreaking British film projects to mainstream cinema audiences.
